An Evening with Dr Lucy Hone

  Dr. Lucy

When: Monday 8 June, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Where: School Hall
Who: Open to all parents, caregivers, and whānau

The sudden passing of our beloved Principal has been a massive shock to our school, and we
know it is bringing up some very big, heavy grief feelings for our students, staff, and families
alike. Navigating these waves of loss with our kids can feel incredibly daunting.
That’s why we feel so incredibly privileged to welcome Dr. Lucy Hone to our school hall next
Monday evening to help us navigate this chapter together.
Based in Christchurch, Lucy is a bestselling author, director of the New Zealand Institute of
Wellbeing & Resilience, and a global expert in grief science. Her moving TED Talk, “Three Secrets
of Resilient People,” has been watched by millions around the world.
More than her academic titles, Lucy speaks from the heart with real, lived experience. She
knows firsthand what it means to face profound loss, and she bypasses the usual textbook
advice to offer what families actually need right now: real, practical tools that work in everyday
life.

What we’ll talk about:
This evening is a safe, gentle, and supportive space for our community to come together. Lucy
will be sharing:

    • Practical tips on how to take care of yourself and your family when riding the “waves” of
      grief.

    • Simple, honest ways to hold comfortable conversations about our Principal’s passing with
      your children.

    • How to build a toolkit of resilience to help our kids feel safe and settled when their world
      feels shaken.
