Articulate, energised achievers; ready for the future.

Ponsonby Intermediate is far more than a school. It is a series of experiences and opportunities that will challenge, stimulate and enable all to achieve in an environment that fosters respect and support. We hope that everyone who becomes involved in Ponsonby Intermediate, whatever the context, will feel part of our community and the school structure at its heart.

'The Ponsonby Experience’ is a publication designed to give you an outline of life at Ponsonby Intermediate. It does not attempt to provide all the answers, but should act as an informative guide when you are identifying specific issues that are relevant to you.

The students at Ponsonby Intermediate always come first. You can expect your child to be well taught, well looked after and, in partnership with you, they will receive the best possible education over their two years with us. We hope that after their time at our school, all students will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for personal success. We ensure they enter the next stage of their lives with a positive self image and that they look back on their time at Ponsonby Intermediate as an important and exciting time.

Our staff is a dedicated highly skilled and hardworking team – always ensuring that excellence in programme delivery is maintained. The staff welcome parent contact and feedback, remembering that class time is paramount. An appointment through the school office ensures your concerns are addressed with the attention they deserve.
We look forward to getting to know you as you find your part in “The Ponsonby Experience”.

The benefits of the Ponsonby experience are:

  • Balanced staff of male and female teachers
  • Recreation programmes involving sport and outdoor pursuits
  • REEP (Recovery, Enrichment and Extension Programme)
  • Curriculum based options
  • After school music centre
  • Youth town bus service
  • Specialised teaching

Specialisation Means:

  • Enthusiasm by staff for subject
  • Innovative and exciting Programmes
  • Teaching to strengths & passions
  • Full Curriculum coverage

We believe that specialised teaching enables students’ needs to be met more effectively. All students have a home room and a form teacher who is responsible for their welfare and concerns.
